Welcome to GoSafari.Africa – A Journey That Changed My Life

I’m Valeriu, a tech entrepreneur from Europe, and the word safari—Swahili for "journey"—has redefined my life. For over a decade, I’ve roamed the sweeping savannas, climbed ancient volcanoes, and lived among the generous, vibrant communities of Kenya and Tanzania. These aren’t just destinations; they’re homes where I’ve been welcomed into daily rhythms, shared ancestral stories, and formed bonds that transcend borders. With GoSafari.Africa, I invite you to experience the same wonders that captivate me—the growl of a lion at sunrise, the chatter of a Maasai village, and the wisdom of elders who’ve shown me what belonging truly means.

My tech background is about connecting people, and here, I’ve channeled that into a platform linking you with East Africa’s finest local safari operators—guides I’ve trusted on my own adventures, who don’t just reveal the wild but invite you to live it alongside them, as I have.

The Heart of a Safari: People, Wildlife, and Landscapes

A safari, to me, is more than wildlife—though I’ll never forget my first glimpse of a leopard’s amber eyes in the Masai Mara or the thunder of wildebeest crossing the Serengeti. It’s the journey: dusty trails, golden plains, and nights by the fire with rangers sharing tales of the bush. But it’s the people who make it unforgettable. I’ve danced with Samburu children in northern Kenya, woven baskets with Maasai women near Kilimanjaro, and fished with Swahili elders on the coast. Each moment has deepened my love for this land and its soul.

The animals are breathtaking—elephants bathing in muddy rivers, flamingos turning Lake Nakuru into a pink sea, cheetahs sprinting across open plains. I’ve tracked lions with guides whose bushcraft is uncanny, spotting paw prints I’d have missed. Yet, it’s the human stories—the pride of a ranger guarding his park, the laughter of kids playing under acacias, the hospitality of families sharing their hearths—that linger longest.

Living Among the People of the Savannas, Mountains, and Volcanoes

Living with East Africa’s peoples has been my greatest joy. On the savannas, I’ve stayed in Maasai manyattas, circular homes of mud and thatch, where I’ve joined herders tending cattle under the relentless sun. I’ve sat with Maasai elders beneath sprawling acacias, their voices weaving tales of lion hunts and starlit migrations, their hands offering warm milk from their herds. In the Serengeti’s vastness, I’ve camped with Datoga families, watching women craft jewelry from bone and bead, their resilience etched into every piece.

In northern Kenya’s arid plains, I’ve lived with Samburu nomads, their bright shukas flashing against the dust. I’ve helped water camels at dawn, marveling at their endurance, and listened as warriors sang of battles and rains. Nearby, Turkana fishermen on Lake Turkana taught me to cast nets under a blazing sky, their weathered faces beaming as we hauled in tilapia, sharing meals of fish and ugali by the shore.

In the mountains and volcanic regions, the experiences deepen. Near Mount Kilimanjaro, I’ve trekked with Chagga farmers through banana groves, their songs honoring the peak towering above. I’ve slept in their wooden homes, learning how they coax life from volcanic soil, their reverence for “Kibo” shaping every step. In the Ngorongoro Crater, I’ve shared tea with Hadzabe hunter-gatherers, their clicks and whistles a living language as they showed me how to track antelope with bows crafted from sinew and wood.

Higher up, in Kenya’s Aberdare Range, I’ve warmed myself by fires with Kikuyu rangers, their tales of forest elephants and elusive bongo antelopes filling the misty nights. On Mount Kenya’s slopes, I’ve hiked with Meru guides, their knowledge of herbal remedies and ancient spirits turning every ridge into a lesson. These communities—each distinct, from savanna herders to mountain dwellers—have welcomed me as family, their cultures as rich as the landscapes they inhabit.

Destinations That Define My Journey

These places and peoples have shaped my East African love affair:

  • Masai Mara, Kenya: I’ve watched the Great Migration unfold here, a million hooves kicking up dust, guided by Maasai trackers who’ve invited me into their homes to meet their kin and share their songs.

  • Serengeti, Tanzania: Endless plains pulse with life—zebras, giraffes, hyenas. I’ve stayed in camps run by Datoga and Sukuma locals, their warmth as vast as the horizon.

  • Mount Kilimanjaro and Ngorongoro Crater: I’ve climbed with Chagga and camped with Hadzabe, their respect for these volcanic giants inspiring me. Operators here support conservation, ensuring your visit uplifts the land and its people.

  • Hidden Gems: In Ruaha, I’ve tracked wild dogs with expert guides, their stealth rivaling the packs we followed. In Laikipia’s conservancies, I’ve ridden with Samburu warriors, their camels swaying past elephant herds.

These aren’t just spots on a map—they’re where I’ve found kinship.
